Jesus Christ is the Son of God, equal with the Father. He lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for everyone’s sins by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate his power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son and is God. He is present in the world to help people understand their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truths, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under his guidance daily.
Salvation is God's gift to you. Eternal life begins the moment you receive Jesus Christ into your life by faith. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith. And this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not by works, so that no one can boast." (Bible, Ephesians 2:8-9).
The Bible is God's Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
A new church species is emerging throughout the Western world. In major cities as well as rural areas, unique church life is peeking through like the fresh growth of new crops pressing through the surface of the soil. Called microchurches, each one functions as a complete church, not simply a part of a bigger church. Although the term we are using is a contemporary name, the concept is as old as the New Testament church we read about in the Scriptures. - Larry Kreider, Dove International.
"We affirm microchurch as the most basic expression of the Church. Our ecclesiology is simple. When believers work together in sincere worship and genuine community to accomplish part of the mission of God, they are the church." - Tampa Underground.
HOPE NOT ANXIETY
When there are large sums of money, method, and institutional expectation on our shoulders, people can be tempted to cut the corner of 'mission' and simply gather as Christians. But if we can conceive of the church as something smaller and simpler, we can 'do mission' with hope and not anxiety. - Micro Churches Australia.
REACHING OUR CITY
While there are still many thousands of people who will resonate with what is offered in the large gathering model, that number is shrinking, not growing. Now is the time to provide highly contextualized expressions of church for every unreached pocket of people in our city. – Rob Wegner, KC Underground Network.
Long ago, God called people into smaller communities. I think microchurches are a reversal to get back to a community where people know your name and we can be called upon to use the gifts we have. - Brock Rubin, Calvin Theological Seminary, Christian Reformed Church.
